With your own API key, the provider bills you directly for the replies it answers. You can also use every model of that provider, including the ones MirageCHAT doesn’t offer from your plan.
- Open AI › Models & keys and press OpenAI, Anthropic or Google Gemini.
- Under Connection, paste the key into the provider’s API key field and press Connect. The hint below says where to get one.
- The key is checked with the provider before it is saved. When you see “Connected. Press Use on a model to answer with it.”, press Use on a model.
- Models answered with your key say “Your key · billed by …”. Those replies don’t use your plan.
- To change or stop, press Replace key, or Remove and confirm. After removal, that provider’s models that MirageCHAT offers answer from your plan again.
Gemini Free
- The Gemini Free tile takes a free key from Google AI Studio. Before connecting, tick “I understand: my clients’ messages will go to Google’s free service.”
- On Google’s free tier, Google may use and read these conversations, and its free limits can run out mid-conversation.
Good to know
- The key is stored encrypted and never shown again.
- If the provider later rejects a key, runs out of credit or hits a limit, the tile says Needs attention and what to do.
- A model only your key can run stops if you remove the key, so set If the model cannot answer.
- The owner or an admin connects keys.
