Schedule an Instant Post for later, then change or cancel it

Instant Post can publish now or at a time you pick, up to a year ahead. A scheduled post goes out by itself — there is no approval step.

1. Open Social Studio, press New Instant Post and go through the steps: media, accounts, caption.
2. On the last step, Check and post, switch Now to Later.
3. Pick one of the Quick picks and it is set: In 1 hour, This evening, Tomorrow morning, Tomorrow evening, and Saturday morning or Monday morning, depending on the day.
4. Or pick a day in the calendar. It shows one month at a time, Monday first; the arrows move a month back or ahead, up to a year from today.
5. Then pick one of the day’s hours, from 07:00 to 22:00. For any other time press Other time and choose the hour and the minute (in steps of five).
6. Check the line under the picker, for example “Goes out Fri 9 Oct, 11:30, your time (Europe/London).”, and press the button, which now reads Schedule · Fri 9 Oct, 11:30.
7. The window shows “Scheduled ·” with the day and the time. You can close it; Recent brings it back.

Change or cancel a scheduled post

1. Open Social Studio › Your posts › Scheduled — or press Scheduled next to Coming up on the Instant Post tab.
2. On the post’s card press Change time. Change the time opens with the same picker; pick the new time and press Schedule · …, or Keep the old time.
3. Post now sends it right away, and Cancel stops it. Each is asked in the card first: Post now or Not yet, Cancel the post or Keep it. What has already gone out stays.

Good to know

• The earliest time is five minutes from now; days and hours before it are greyed out. If you wait until your time is less than five minutes away, you are asked to pick a later one.
• Times use the 24-hour clock and your device’s own time zone. A date in another year shows its year, for example “Tue 5 Oct 2027”.
• When Insights is in your package, the hours your posts get the most views are green, and Your best time can lead the quick picks.
• TikTok’s and YouTube’s choices — who can see it, made for kids and the rest — are made before you schedule, just as for Post now.
• A new time moves the post on every account it is still waiting for.

• In the phone app, Later is on the last step too, with the same picker, and Menu › Social Studio › Your posts › Scheduled has the same buttons.
