In short

From version 1.5.0 on iPhone and Android, a WhatsApp call to your number rings the phone like a phone call, with the customer’s name — and you answer it in the app. From a WhatsApp conversation you can call a customer who allows it. WhatsApp calls are part of the Growth and Pro packages.

Before you start

1. When a customer calls

  1. The ring

Your phone rings like a phone call — on the lock screen too — with the customer’s name. It rings on the phones and browsers of everyone who can open that conversation — when it is assigned to someone, their phone first and the others’ a few seconds later.

  2. Answer

Answer it as you answer any call. The first time, your phone asks to use the microphone — allow it.

  3. Or decline

Declining stops the ring on your phone only; the call keeps ringing for your teammates. If someone answers first, your phone stops ringing and the app says «Someone else answered this call.»

2. During the call

  • Mute and Unmute your microphone, and Speaker for the loudspeaker.
  • Chat opens the customer’s conversation; the call bar stays on screen while you move around the app.
  • End hangs up; the length of the call is written into the conversation.

3. Call a customer

  1. Open the conversation

Open the customer’s WhatsApp conversation and press the green phone at the top.

  2. Ask, or call

The sheet checks with WhatsApp. If the customer hasn’t allowed calls yet, press Ask … to allow calls — they see Allow and Don’t allow in WhatsApp. Once they allow it, press Call … with their name.

  3. Or send a call button

Press Send a call button: when the customer taps it, the call rings here.

Calls you make are billed by WhatsApp per minute to the WhatsApp account’s payment method. Calls from customers are free.

4. Keep a phone quiet

In Menu › Settings, under WhatsApp calls, switch off Ring this phone for WhatsApp calls. Calls then ring on your other devices and on the web, not on this phone. Messages keep coming as before.

5. Every call

Owners and admins: Menu › Calls lists every call to your numbers and the ones your team made — today’s numbers on top, then All, Missed, Incoming and Outgoing.

An older version of the app shows a ringing call as a banner with Answer on the web. Update MirageCHAT from the App Store or Google Play to answer on the phone.
